Cheshire East Council has hailed the decision of the secretary of state to reject the development of 119 homes close to the Jodrell Bank observatory. The landmark decision recognised that the ‘reasonable protection’ of the observatory is a matter of global significance. Councillor Ainsley Arnold, Cheshire East Council cabinet member for housing and planning, said:

With the current focus on local healthcare provision and on the future of the A&E unit at Macclesfield General Hospital, Dr Paul Bowen, Chair of the Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will join us. He will take the opportunity to explain the role of the CCG and how it fits in with the rest of the NHS. He will also outline the challenges (clinical and financial) facing the local health economy and discuss potential solutions
The CCG is GP-led and is responsible for commissioning and funding healthcare services in Eastern Cheshire, including Emergency Care. Dr Bowen’s presentation will provide an opportunity for everyone concerned about the future of our A&E unit to better understand the context of the decisions that are about to be made about its future.
The presentation will be followed by Q&A.
Frank Jordan, Cheshire East’s newly appointed Executive Director of Place will also be with us to update the meeting on the status of Town Centre projects and the Local Plan.
Add some interesting success stories from MIM’s Enterprising Macclesfield initiative and a little bit of FA Cup glamour from the Moss Rose and I think we can look forward to an interesting morning.

The collection of household green waste by Cheshire East Council will once again be suspended during the winter period because of a drop in demand over the festive season.
