Anyone taking the time to make a trip around the site of the National Grid engineering works that have brought road closures and chaos to Macclesfield roads will reach the obvious conclusion – no engineering has yet been started on the pylons.
When challenged on this earlier today an embarrassed National Grid employee acknowledged that conclusion and said they were currently working on plans to let the community know the situation.
To make things worse the Silk Road will remain closed despite the absence of Grid action because, logically from everyone’s perspective, the Highways Authority are taking the opportunity to repair and resurface the road.
Subject to receipt of further information from the Grid it seems unlikely that the planned work will be carried out in an extension to the current closure scheme, meaning a further period of road closures will be required to finish the works.
