Lynn McGill has been reappointed as Chairman of East Cheshire NHS Trust – the NHS body which runs Macclesfield, Congleton and Knutsford hospitals along with a range of community healthcare services – for a further four years.
Lynn has been Chairman of the trust since November 2010 and has served as a non-executive director from 2003. She brings a wealth of experience to the trust after serving in a number of leading roles in the commercial sector.
As Chairman, Lynn has led the trust through a number of major changes, including the awarding of contracts to run sexual health services across both the Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester local authority footprints. Under Lynn’s chairmanship, the trust has achieved consistently high scores for patient safety and won a number of awards, including being named one of CHKS’s top 40 hospital operators six times in a row and receiving multiple awards from the National Autistic Society.
Commenting on her reappointment, Lynn said “It is a privilege to have the opportunity to serve as chairman of the trust for a further four years.
“During the last six years I have seen many innovative developments at the trust, the integrated respiratory team, now a valued team of experts, our local Frailty Service has also become a recognised model of good practice and integrated community and hospital-based NIMO (Neighbourhood Integrated Medicines Optimisation) team is supporting patients at home and in the community.
“Looking ahead to the next four years, I am committed to ensuring the trust continues to deliver high-quality healthcare to the local population and to work more closely with our partners in the Caring Together programme to meet the challenges we face as a local health and social care economy.”
Lynn, who lives in Aston Juxta Mondrum near Nantwich, also serves as chairman of the trust’s Remuneration Committee, is a trustee of its Charitable Funds Committee and is a friend of East Cheshire Hospice.
Non‐executive directors play a crucial role in bringing an independent perspective to NHS trust boards in addition to the specific knowledge, skills and experience they may have.
East Cheshire NHS Trust’s non-executive directors and Chairman are appointed by NHS Improvement for a fixed term following open invitations among members of the local community.
