Title: Oxfam Walk For Water Sponsored Walk 2012 Venue: Tegs Nose Country Park - A Walk to the Forest Date From: 1st July 2012 Time: 12 noon Details: Kick starting our Oxfam Water Week 2nd - 8th July in England and Wales or 11 - 17 June 2012 in Scotland....visit: www.oxfam.org.uk/waterweek for more details. The 'walk for water' takes place every year (one way or another) last year we raised just short of £500 enough to buy a share in a borehole plus provide safe water for almost 118 people. This gift provided a vital contribution towards the drilling and maintaining of a borehole delivering clean safe water for drinking or irrigation. This year we would like to do the same again by raising a minimum of £500 but would dearly love to be able to provide a Water Tank or best part of (£3,214). Visit us on facebook and join in our event This year we are meeting at Tegs Nose Country Park Visiors Centre at 12 noon on 1st July 2012 where we will walk to the forest. This is a fairly strenuous walk on good paths. There are several ascents and descents so anyone joining us should wear strong shoes or walking boots and bring along a waterproof, a snack and something to drink. The walk starts at Tegs Nose Country Park where there are splendid views over the patchwork landscape of the Cheshire plain, with distinctive landmarks such as Jodrell Bank and Beeston Castle. To the southwest is Macclesfield Forest and Shutlingsloe, Cheshire's second highest peak at 506m (166ft)...the distance is approx. 11km (7miles) and takes between 3 & 4 hours...come and join us and bring £5.00 or your sponsorship money (in form of cheque - CAF cheques also excepted) whicever is the greater amount. For those of you wanting a more challenging route meet at the Rangers Station at 12 noon on the same name for a trek round Shutlingsloe descending down to the visitors centre....all money raised by this sponsored walk will go towards purchasing water related products from Oxfam Unwrapped. In emergencies Oxfam rush Water Tanks to the epicentre to provide clean, safe water, in temporary camps, huge versions, holding tens of thousands of literes, can supply water to hundreds of families. And installing a tank in a village school can help make attendance rocket. Please either sponsor our walkers or if you are interested in taking part please contact us on 01625 429939 - in the interest of Health & Safety numbers are limited.
