I'd just like to make a comment to the proposed plans for the site across from Park Street/Park Green- The Towers (across at the bottom of Sunderland Street ish). I think that the plans, in regards both to architecture and use, are bad. It is neither cutting edge, nor heritage (it is within the conservation area) it is dull, ugly and big. If the plans get through, I find it hard to see what a conservation area stands for at all!

The intended use is for an assisted living block for the elderly - I do not think a town centre trying to regenerate and energise itself, is the right place.

I live on Park Street and will be directly opposite the site, and I am in no means against the regeneration of the site - but, surely, it should be seen as a great opportunity to use the land for something to promote the town and be of use for the whole of the community - to try and fit with the plan to make this the gateway to the creative cultural quarter. It needs to be thought about within the plans for the whole town and the affect it may have on it, not just in terms of the site individually. I worry that it may be viewed of as 'anything is better than what's there' and get through because of this - not thinking of the long term and missing a valuable opportunity.

After speaking to the council they said they need to get it right as this will be a president for the rest of the town.

The plans are available on line and anyone who wants to comment only has a week or so.

    Kind Regards,
    Rachael
