Cheshire East garden waste collections go into hibernation

green binsThe collection of household green waste by Cheshire East Council will once again be suspended during the winter period because of a drop in demand over the festive season.

The garden waste service will be suspended from the week beginning Sunday, December 4. It will restart during the week beginning Sunday February 12, 2017

Garden waste is collected fortnightly, so residents are advised to check the council’s website for details of their last collection of 2016 and first collection of 2017.

During the shutdown, residents can take their garden waste to any of Cheshire East’s household waste recycling centres at Alsager, Arclid, Bollington, Congleton, Crewe, Knutsford, Macclesfield, Middlewich and Poynton. The centres are open all year round, seven days a week, except for Christmas Day.

Councillor Don Stockton, cabinet member for regeneration, said; “It makes sense to suspend the garden waste service over the winter months as we know that demand is low at this time of year.

“Anyone who has garden waste to dispose of over the festive season can of course visit any of the household waste recycling centres across Cheshire East.”
