Throughout the past 12 months Axon has been participating in, and holding various events to help raise funds for the charity, which the company chose to support via a team vote at the beginning of the year.
Team fundraising activities throughout the year spanned from company bake sales to 100 mile bike rides and swimathons, while Axon company directors participated in a “Throw the wet sponge” event, where staff members enjoyed throwing wet sponges at the directors for a small fee to help raise money for the charity.
The events have seen the company raise over £500, with the money being used by Space4Autism towards enabling the charity to carry on with activities such as playgroups, youth and support groups and events like movie nights, skating, football and many more.
Cheryl Simpson, Chief Executive Officer for Space4Autism said “I would like to thank Axon for choosing Space4Austism as its charity of the year. Not only has the team raised much needed funds towards the valuable work that we do across the community, but it has also helped raise awareness of Space4Autism around the town.”
The National Autistic Society estimates, around 700,000 people in the UK are living with Autism and 70% of adults diagnosed with the condition say they’re not getting the help they need from social services, making charities like Space4Autism more important than ever.
Axon’s Managing Director Tim Mears added ”We’re proud to have been able to support such a fantastic local charity. We’re delighted that the money we’ve raised will go towards helping to change the lives of children and adults living with Autism in Macclesfield and enable the charity to carry on with their amazing work.”
