Over the course of the last term, students at All Hallows’ have been generously donating food to the Treehouse food bank in Macclesfield. This is a local service which helps those people in the community who have fallen on hard times and are struggling to buy food for themselves and their families.
As a school community we decided to support this cause and for each student to aim to bring in at least one item of nutritious and non-perishable food.
We decided that we would run this project within our new house system and in conjunction with the R.E. department. We now have four houses in college; Alpha, Omega, Pax and Icthus. Each house had an assembly in which they were told about the Treehouse project and our challenge was to bring at least one item of food in to school for the collection. As always, students at All Hallows demonstrated our core values of compassion and honourable purpose by bringing in lots of tins, jars and cartons of non-perishable food.
The amount and range of food that was brought in was huge and I am sure this will go long way to helping the less fortunate people in our community during these winter months.
A massive thank you to all the families who contributed, your donation is much appreciated!
