The agenda for the meeting, which will be chaired as usual by David Rutley MP, is not yet finalised but will include a presentation on recent developments at AstraZeneca and the company’s vision for the future for the Hurdsfield Campus. The importance of the site to the town can be illustrated by some interesting statistics:
- 1% of all goods exported from the UK come from the AZ Macclesfield Campus which is the single biggest pharmaceutical site in the UK.
- The GVA (Gross Value Added) per manufacturing employee at Hurdsfield is £330K, the highest of any high-tech sector
Also, with the current focus on local healthcare provision and in particular on A&E services, Dr Paul Bowen, Chair of the Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has also agreed to present. The CCG is GP-led and is responsible for commissioning and funding healthcare services in Eastern Cheshire, including Emergency Care. Dr Bowen will give a summary of the current “Caring Together” programme and the case being made for change in pursuit of joined up local healthcare.
Make it Macclesfield also hope that Frank Jordan, Cheshire East’s newly appointed Director of Place, will also be with us to update the meeting on the status of Town Centre projects and the Local Plan.
Add some interesting success stories from MIM’s Enterprising Macclesfield initiative and a little bit of FA Cup glamour from the Moss Rose and I think we can look forward to a very interesting morning.
The final agenda will be circulated in the near future. In the meantime please reserve your place via EVENTBRITE
