Make it Macclesfield’s General Meeting to be held at 7.30 pm at Macclesfield Rugby Club on Thursday 27th October will offer both MIM members and non-members an opportunity to learn about the recent activities of the social enterprise and to influence its direction in the future.
At the meeting the Board will put the Community Interest Company’s latest accounts and community interest report to MIM members for approval before giving an update on the progress of two of its major new projects:
The Print Mill – a project jointly funded by Macclesfield Town Council and the Mary Portas Pilot initiative which set out to encourage Place Team partners to bring together local councils, retailers and businesses to try out new ideas to drive their local economy.
Enterprising Macclesfield – a new venture, also partly funded by Macclesfield Town Council, which provides support through a local network of coaches and advisers to people wishing to start new businesses or to grow existing ventures with the SK10 and SK11 postcodes. Since it’s launch in November last year Enterprising Macclesfield has worked with more than 60 budding or existing entrepreneurs engaged in an amazingly wide range of endeavours. The meeting will provide an opportunity to learn about its work and to meet one or two beneficiaries of the scheme.
During the past year MIM has continued its long running Community Engagement programme now also supported by the Town Council and plans for future activities will be on the agenda.
MIM’s future as Macclesfield’s “Place Team” is totally dependent on the engagement of the local community and we are always looking for new ideas. So if you are a long standing member or if you are new to what we do you will be equally welcome so why not come along and find out some more.
We’ll be providing an opportunity for everyone to share their ideas on how we might bring benefit to our town and our community, so if you think you have an idea that might make a difference then please come along and share it. For the record Enterprising Macclesfield was the outcome of an idea floated at the last MIM meeting of this nature. It would be great to find another similar success this year!
Finally, we would like to add some new blood to the MIM Board. If you think you’d like to help us to “Make it Macclesfield” in a bigger and better way then why not get in touch.
An agenda for the meeting on October 27th is available HERE.
The Rugby Club bar will be open during the evening to facilitate informal conversation.
