June 1st to 7th is Volunteer Week, so this week SUSO – the organization in Macclesfield run with and for adults with learning disabilities and additional needs – is taking the opportunity to thank their volunteers for all the hard work they do at the drop-in and supporting the socials, community events and outdoor activities.
The dropper-inners will be thinking about all the things they love about the volunteers and the terrific contribution they make, so that the drop-in is the welcoming and fun place they enjoy.
And Project Manager and Founder Karen Keen will be baking a different cake every day, as a personal thank you (up to now the offerings have been Victoria sponge with raspberry jam and chocolate butter cream, and carrot cake with coconut frosting).
They asked our dropper-inners what they liked best about the volunteers and they said, ‘Thumbs-Up’, ‘They are really friendly’, ‘They are a really good help towards people’, ‘They make it a nice place’, ‘Everyone is nice’, ‘They’re kind’, ‘They give up their time for us’.
They also asked volunteers what they liked best about volunteering with SUSO and they said, ‘Sharing happy times’, ‘I find it so rewarding’, ‘I think we volunteers get more out of it than the dropper-inners’.
Suso couldn’t do half of what they do if it wasn’t for the support of their brilliant volunteers. They really appreciate that they give up their valuable time and share their skills, their energy, their friendship, and commitment to support the work that we do here. So from everyone, staff, trustees and dropper-inners – THANK YOU!!!!
